How and why to create additional accounts in the HUB (OANDA Asia Pacific)

By default, all OANDA live account holders are provided with a primary v20 trading account. This account is compatible with our v20 trading engine, and comes without the hedging functionality.

You can create up to 19 v20 or MT4 sub-accounts in any of our nine major currencies, such as USD or EUR.

You may create OANDA One sub-accounts in the following currencies only: SGD, USD, GBP and AUD. You can have a maximum of three OANDA One sub-accounts. OANDA One sub-accounts have hedging enabled by default.

Potentially diversifies your risk:

You can use different accounts to use different trading strategies. You can also hedge or diversify currency rate risk. Additional accounts allow you to allocate your funds into different currencies.

If hedging is enabled, you can simultaneously hold long and short positions in the same instrument.

If hedging is not enabled, same instrument trades in opposite directions will be closed.

Segregates your trades:

If one account undergoes a margin closeout, your trades in other accounts are not affected.

Creates an MT4 account:

This account is required to trade on the MetaTrader 4 interface.

Potential savings on fees:

You can save on deposit and withdrawal fees or third-party currency exchange charges for certain currencies.

Creates an OANDA One account:

This account is required to trade specific instruments on MT5 platforms or our mobile apps.

  1. Sign in to the HUB.

  2. From Accounts, click ADD NEW ACCOUNT and enter the required information as shown in the following images:

  3. Toggle to select an Account type. Select OANDA One, v20 or v20 MT4. Each account type helps you trade on specific platforms — OANDA, MetaTrader 5 or MetaTrader.

  4. Enter an Account name of less than 30 characters for your v20 or v20 MT4 account. You can edit the account name even after you have created the account.

    OANDA One accounts do not have names. They are identified with account numbers.

  5. Select the account currency.

  6. This step is applicable only to v20 MT4 and OANDA One accounts. You must create a password. This password can be the same or different from your default account.

  7. This step is applicable only to v20 and v20 MT4 sub-accounts. You have the option to tick the check box to enable hedging on these accounts .

    OANDA One accounts have hedging enabled by default. This setting cannot be changed.

  8. Click on CREATE.

    The leverage shown at the time of account creation is the maximum permissible leverage by the industry regulator. You can view instrument-specific leverage on our website.
