What is a spread and how to find it for specific instruments?
What is a spread?
A spread is the difference between the buy and sell price of a currency pair. It is the cost for the investor to make transactions. For major currency pairs, a spread is usually a few pips. But in some cases, it may temporarily widen, especially before the release of key macroeconomic data. If such data is surprising to the market, it can lead to sharp fluctuations in exchange rates. Refer to our current spreads.
